Cookie Policy
Every cookie we set ourselves is necessary for something you asked for, and they are all listed below. There is one thing we ask permission for: Google Analytics, which sets two cookies of its own. Nothing is set for it unless you accept, and we have no advertising or retargeting cookies either way.
Counting visits, without a cookie
We do count visits — which pages are opened, which site linked you to us, and which country the connection appeared to come from. It runs on our own servers and the figures go nowhere else.
It works without storing anything on your device. To tell one visit from another we compute a one-way fingerprint from your connection and browser, mixed with a secret only our server holds, and with today’s date. It cannot be reversed, it is useless anywhere else, and it changes at midnight — so it is a way of counting today, not a record of you. We never store your IP address.
Because nothing is stored on your device and nothing identifies you, no consent is required for it. You can still say no.
Your choice about our own counting
This takes effect immediately, and opting out also deletes anything counted for you today.
Google Analytics
This is the one thing on this site that needs your permission, and it is off until you give it. We use it to understand how people find the shop and which pages they look at — detail our own counting cannot give us, because it deliberately forgets everybody at midnight.
If you accept, Google sets the two cookies listed below, and receives the pages you open, approximately where you are, and which site linked you here. Google is in the United States, so your visit leaves the UK; that transfer is covered by the safeguards named in our privacy policy, where Google is listed as a processor.
Advertising features are switched off and there is no setting on this site that turns them on. Google does not use this data to build an advertising profile of you on our behalf, and we do not run ads.
If you decline, no Google cookie is set and nothing identifying is sent. The tag is still present and sends an anonymous, cookieless signal that one visit happened, which cannot be joined to you or to any other visit. The shop behaves identically either way.

Every one of those is set by us, and none of them can be read by JavaScript in your browser.

Both are set by Google rather than by us, both are readable by JavaScript, and neither exists until you accept. If you turn it off again, they stop being set — you can also delete them in your browser.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies, whatever you choose.
- No social media pixels or embedded trackers.
- No third party other than Google Analytics, and that one only with your permission.
- No Google advertising features. Signals, remarketing and personalisation are switched off for this property.
- We do not sell or share any of it with anybody.
Turning them off
Your browser can block or delete cookies, and you can do that here. If you block ours, you will not be able to stay signed in or keep a basket, because those cookies are how those things work.
